Math Contest
I remember when I was in grade 7, I used to hate math. I didn't understand it and it made me feel stupid. I was struggling to keep up with my classmates and it was affecting my overall grades. That's when my parents decided to sign me up for a math tutoring service.
I have to say, I was hesitant at first. I thought it would be boring and pointless. But as soon as I started working with my tutors, my whole perspective changed. They were patient and understanding, and they helped me understand the concepts in a way that made sense to me. They also made the lessons fun and engaging.
As I started to grasp the material better, I found myself enjoying math more and more. I was no longer feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. I felt like I was finally catching up with my peers and it was a huge relief.
With my newfound confidence, I decided to take the Gauss math competition and to my surprise, I placed in the top 20 percent of students in Canada. It was an amazing feeling and it showed me that I was capable of doing well in math.
The following year, I competed in the Pascal competition and placed second in my school. That was a huge accomplishment for me, and it was a testament to how far I had come.
Now, I am continuing my math journey by taking IB math higher level, and I am excited to see where it will take me. I am grateful for the guidance and support of my tutors, they helped me turn my weakness into a strength.
